Quality 2 (Calibrated) can be unlocked for all gear modification by completing DarkStar Quality Research 2. This requires Weapon Engineering 1 and Spacesuit Design 1.
Quality 3 (Refined) can be unlocked for all gear modification by completing DarkStar Quality Research 3. This requires DarkStar Quality Research 2.
Quality 4 (Advanced) can be unlocked for all gear modification by completing DarkStar Quality Research 4. This requires DarkStar Quality Research 3 as well as Weapon Engineering 2 and Spacesuit Design 2.
Quality 5 (Superior) can be unlocked for all gear modification by completing DarkStar Quality Research 5. This requires DarkStar Quality Research 4 as well as Weapon Engineering 3 and Spacesuit Design 3.
Quality 6 (Unrivaled) can be unlocked for all gear modification by completing DarkStar Quality Research 6. This requires DarkStar Quality Research 5 as well as Special Projects 1.
Quality 7 (Relic) can be unlocked for all gear modification by completing DarkStar Quality Research 7. This requires DarkStar Quality Research 6 as well as Special Projects 2.
Clothing (Apparel, Cyberware, Headwear) can be crafted without research.
Apparel Enhancement requires DarkStar Enhanced Apparel Manufacturing, which requires Spacesuit Design 1 skill.
Cyberware Enhancement requires DarkStar Enhanced Cyberware Manufacturing, which requires Spacesuit Design 1 skill.
Headwear Enhancement requires DarkStar Enhanced Headwear Manufacturing, which requires Spacesuit Design 1 skill.
Armor (Helmet, Boostpack, Spacesuit) crafting requires Spacesuit Design 1 skill.
Helmet Enhancement requires DarkStar Enhanced Helmet Manufacturing, which requires Spacesuit Design 1 skill.
Boostpack Enhancement requires DarkStar Enhanced Helmet Manufacturing, which requires Spacesuit Design 1 skill.
Spacesuit Enhancement requires DarkStar Enhanced Helmet Manufacturing, which requires Spacesuit Design 1 skill.
Weapons can be crafted once you attain Relic level for that weapon, and requires Weapon Internals 1 research, or Blades 1 research for melee.
Weapon Enhancement requires DarkStar Enhanced Weapon Manufacturing, which requires Weapon Engineering 1 skill.
VILE/VOLATILE CRAFTING:
Vile weapons are Particle Beam versions of Ballistic weapons, and require Volatile ammunition. To fully unlock these, you will need to complete:
- Particle Core Research 1 which requires Weapon Engineering 3. This unlocks a Weapon Crafting bench recipe to create an Extracted Particle Core. These are made by consuming any one of the four vanilla particle beam weapons found in the game: Big Bang, Novalight, Va'ruun Inflictor or Va'ruun Starshard. Crafting one of the four recipes will give you a single Extracted Particle Core, which you then use to complete Particle Core Research 2.
- Particle Core Research 2 which requires Particle Core Research 1 and Weapon Engineering 3 skill.
- Volatile Ammo Research which requires Particle Core Research 2 and Weapon Engineering 3 skill.
- Vile Weapon Manufacturing which requires Volatile Ammo Research, Special Projects 1 skill and Weapon Engineering 3 skill.
LEGENDARIES:
Legendaries each have their own research to complete under Weapon or Equipment categories of your Research Workstation. These require ALL of the Enhancement research to be complete, as well as Special Projects 2 and either Weapon Engineering 2 or Spacesuit Design 2 (appropriate to whether it is an Armor or Weapon legendary).
DarkStar's new custom legendaries require DarkStar Proprietary Legendaries research in the Material Analysis section of your Research Workstation. This research requires ALL enhancement research to be complete. Each Legendary unlocked by this research has its own Level, Skill & NG+ requirements. They scale from Level 10 unlocks, to Level 130+NG20 unlocks.
